Aaron Swartz, a young and influential leader of the internet community, reportedly hung himself on January 11th, 2013.

He was a co-founder of the popular site Reddit.com, and he also played a pivotal role in stopping SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act).

At the end of his life, Swartz was facing charges which could landed him in jail for up to 35 years.

Why? He downloaded academic papers through the MIT network.

Why was Aaron facing such harsh punishments for such a trivial "crime"?

And why would he, a man who reportedly never showed signs of depression according to his girlfriend and roommate, choose to hang himself after fighting the charges for two years?
