War propaganda, interrogations and "target" monitoring given to private contractors

According to a recent study, the US military has been paying private contractors to carry out secret military operations in the realms of surveillance, propaganda and interrogation.
This London-based study by the Remote Control Project suggests that "the aim of these contracts was to 'engage local populations and counter nefarious influences in parts of Europe and Africa'".
It's a strange, murky stew they're brewing.
