Anyone with a lick of sense is aware of the gross violation of privacy that is the NSA's total surveillance program.
It looks even worse when you're outside the US.
Why?
What few laws exist (and are followed) to protect people apply to US citizens.
The NSA feels free to spy anywhere outside the US on anybody any time - and most of the tools that people use worldwide are US products - Google, Microsoft, Facebook etc. - have been totally compromised.
