The Founder were against it, and most US leaders treated the division respectfully, but the recent band of criminals - Reagan,Bush, Clinton etc. - hijacked faith for political purposes.

Religion is a private matter. Using is as a political rallying point is playing with fire - as the Founders knew.

It hurts faith and hurts the faithful.
