Until recently, drone technology outpaced the FAA's ability to regulate it. But how did we get to this point?

Although the US military has been developing drones in one form or another since WWI, it was only with the hunt for Osama bin Laden that the technology came into its own. The Predator drone revolutionized warfare, and paved the way for the more benign use of the technology in Hollywood. However, there are still grave doubts about the use and inevitable misuse of drones, abroad as well as at home.
