The numbers of reports of sexual assault in the US military have risen, likely due to the increase of women serving and more willingness to step up.

However, many of the women and men who report their crimes are ignored or told to drop the case.

A conflict of interest exists in the chain of command involved with handling these cases, and it leads to a gross amount of injustice.

This problem needs to be addressed, and it needs to be addressed now.
