Free speech threat, or lip service?
A new, controversial law, meant to curtail cruel web trolling, has caused an uproar in Britain.
The law mandates 2 years in jail for web trolls - those anonymous users whose sole mission in life, it seems, is to belittle others.
They are bullies made more powerful by the anonymity of the internet.
However, there seems to be little definition as to what constitutes trolling.
Detractors fear a modern day witch hunt, where the term "troll" can be thrown at the accused, and the innocent or mildly guilty can be punished with impunity.
Most likely, however, the law will be fangless, as there is little financial support to uphold internet laws in the first place.
