A villainous corporate strategy
Are you familiar with the term "planned obsolescence"? If you're not, you should be.
This strategy is used by corporations to get you to buy more of their products. They've figured out how to increase their profits, by draining your wallet.
They design inferior products with irreplaceable components that break or wear out (cell phone batteries, anyone?), forcing you to buy a new product within a short period of time.
Sneaky, sneaky.
Even more wretched is corporate suppression of superior technology - stamping out any competition that has a better, more effective, or less flimsy product.
In both cases, you're getting screwed.
